Mixsoon: One Ingredient, and the Case for Doing Less
Mixsoon takes minimalism further than most brands are willing to. The Bean Essence is close to a single ingredient — fermented soybean — and that is the entire proposition.
Why fermentation matters
Fermenting breaks large molecules into smaller ones the skin can actually absorb, and produces amino acids and peptides as by-products. It is why fermented ingredients have been a staple of Korean formulation for decades while Western brands were still reaching for stronger actives.
The result balances oil and moisture rather than pushing skin in either direction — which is unusual, and it is why it suits oily and dry skin equally.
The reset case
This is the brand to reach for when a routine has got out of hand. Too many actives, unpredictable reactions, no idea which product is causing what.
Strip back to a gentle cleanser, the Bean Essence and a plain moisturiser. Two weeks. Then reintroduce one product at a time, a fortnight apart.
It is unusually difficult to react to, which is exactly what you want in a baseline.
Where to start
The Bean Essence, after cleansing, on damp skin. Nothing else for a fortnight.
